Horizontality in community-based participatory research

The 9th seminar of the CREMIS Episteme team, on March 16, 2021, aimed to question the nature of the relationship between community organizations and academics when they collaborate in research projects. Entitled, in French, “L’égalité dans la différence? : L’horizontalité dans les recherches participatives communautaires dans le champ féministe et du VIH/SIDA”, it began with lectures by Charlotte Guerlotté and Sylvain Beaudry from COCQ-SIDA (presentation (in french) available here) and Maria Nengeh Mensah from UQÀM (presentation (in french) available here). They discussed the principles and practices that allow for the articulation of two fundamental values of participatory research that are in tension: equality and differences.
