Coalition des organismes communautaires québécois de lutte contre le sida (COCQ-SIDA)

The COCQ-SIDA is a coalition representing 37 member organizations throughout Quebec. COCQ-SIDA’s mission is to encourage, support, strengthen, and promote independent community action in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Its activities include several innovative campaigns to raise awareness and fight discrimination, the most recent of which presents the testimonials of five people living with HIV/AIDS from different backgrounds and regions in Quebec.

Groupe de recherche et d’intervention social (GRIS Montréal)

The GRIS Montréal is a community organization whose mission is to promote awareness and facilitate the social integration of gays, lesbians, and bisexuals. Most of the organizations’ activities take place in high schools, colleges, and youth centres. GRIS Montréal has developed a specific approach to using testimonials given by volunteers who are specially trained to answer young people’s questions.

Stella, l’amie de Maimie

Stella, l’amie de Maimie is a community organization whose goals are to improve the quality of life and working conditions of sex workers, ensure that sex workers enjoy the same rights to health and security as the rest of the population, and educate the public about different types of sex work. The documentation of sex workers’ testimonials, and in particular those that recount experiences with regards to criminalization and the justice system, is a component of the organization’s awareness, research, and advocacy activities.

Institut de recherches et d’études féministes (IREF)

The IREF is a research institute based at UQAM that aims to promote and develop interdisciplinary feminist research and education. The institute brings together academics, researchers and groups undertaking in research on a range of topics and issues including women, feminism, gender relations, citizenship, social engagement, democracy, sexuality, violence, and inequality.
